The internet as a community [Nov. 12th, 2005|10:38 am]
At times the internet feels like a community, but in other glaring ways it falls far short. The spam and the constant schemes go a long way to hurting the feel of the place.

Over time, as the internet matures, there may be some chance of the whole internet being a warm family, but for now, you'll just have to try to find your spots.

Step it Up [Nov. 4th, 2005|12:52 pm]
That's the best advice I have for myself in November. I have to keep on stepping it up. Life is not hard, but you have to hustle. It's amazing how many people think sitting around will bring them rewards. I doubt it. Today I'm writing more and promoting hard like an animal!

Let's all remember to step it up!

November to Remeber [Nov. 1st, 2005|05:40 pm]
Let's make this a November to remember. Don't let it be said that you could have done your best in November, but you refused. Don't let it be said you had the chance to excel, but you declined. And don't let it be said that you wouldn't even rise to the challenge and give it your all.

Let's get out there and get this done!

Index futures trading [Oct. 30th, 2005|03:23 pm]
Index futures trading is a viable way to profit in volatile markets. If you can pin your trades to an index, you can remove a great deal of the volatility that you're accustomed to seeing. Index funds represent a number of the best and most stable futures contracts, so you have a chance at maintaining capital.

You need to hustle online [Oct. 29th, 2005|11:39 am]
Let's face it: it doesn't cost people much money to get into business on the internet, so there's more competition each and every day. So if you think the job of being an internet marketer is a laid back one, I believe you're mistaken and I'll tell you why. Everyday more competition comes online and invades your marketplace. You cannot sit back and be complacent as your ass gets kicked! You gotta dig in, throw some sand in the face of your competitor and maybe chip a tooth or too! Let's see how much fight Mr. Newbie Competitor has in him then.

And since this is the internet, where everything is virtual, how exactly do we chip the tooth of a competitor? Easy, we do it by outperforming them. There is no other way for us to beat the competition except by doing a better job than them. They only way a small business can succeed in attracting customers is to offer a service or product that is truly unique, or that somehow speaks to certain consumers in a language they understand. If you haven't made that product or service yet, you need to work on your product more than on your marketing. Marketing for a quality product is always easier than trying to dress up horse crap.

Non-traditional link building methods [Oct. 28th, 2005|08:03 pm]
That's today's daily thought: work on growing your website by building more and more links through non-traditional means. What are the non-traditional means? That's for you to discover, by finding the method that works best for you. But just make sure to always think outside the box and don't be afraid of a little, old-fashioned hustle. Rome was not built in a day and neither is a successful website.

Still blogging, can I be stopped? No! [Oct. 27th, 2005|08:51 pm]
Can I be stopped? Not at all. I am a blogging madman. I am sticking to the plan and blogging every day in a quest to improve my writing and communication skills. I didn't get a Bachelor of Communications for nothing! I need to exercise my ability to talk to the people out there on the internet every once in awhile.

Well I'll be back again very soon. In the meantime, I want you to take care of yourself and go ahead and do something you've wanted to do for a long time. I'll bet you'll be glad you did.

700 Credit Score [Oct. 25th, 2005|05:24 pm]
If you're improving your credit, eventually you'll want a 700 credit score or higher. It's not hard to attain, but it's not easy either. You'll need to stay on top of paying your bills and you'll need to only use your current credit sparingly. If you spend too much or miss a payment, you'll soon be out of the 700 credit score club.

Bored with Google updates - Jagger this [Oct. 24th, 2005|08:34 pm]
Watching "Google updates" has to be one of the most boring an unproductive things a person can do. Watching these threads that go to 400 replies is not something that will affect your website or your search engine rankings. I'm basically sure that from now on, I'll deal with any upheaval in the rankings by ignoring it.

How I plan on dealing with a movement up or down in the SERPS is by ignoring it. You have to use "moving averages" when dealing with an internet marketing job. You can never just assume your lowest or highest days are now your standard. Over the course of the year, you'll experience wild fluctuations in CPM, so don't expect nice even paychecks. However, you can write your own ticket if you work hard enough, so by all means write it.

On Writing Well [Oct. 23rd, 2005|03:18 pm]
I've been reading the classic treatise on writing, On Writing Well, and I find it's making me excited about writing again. The fact the author stresses clarity above else is appealing to me, because clear thought is bound to be beneficial to anyone. The clearer you can write, the clearer your thoughts are. For me, this is a helpful way to look at the exercise of writing.

Cheap ISP [Oct. 23rd, 2005|03:14 pm]
What do you look for in a cheap isp? If you're like most people, you look for high quality internet service at an affordable price. This is a winning combination for the average person. ISPs need to be technically savvy, personable and helpful when it comes to technical support, and they must offer plans that average people can afford.
